My Mind, My Mind, My Mind for a Serotonin Molecule 4.0

She lies in bed naked between the sheets, staring at the ceiling. She glances at the clock. 2:12 am. She closes her eyes and when she opens them it’s 12:30pm. She missed class. Again. She wanted to do better. She tried.

Really.

She lies in bed and eventually works one foot out of bed and then the other. She walks to the bathroom and the sound of water hitting the shower wall emanates from the bathroom. The water gets hot and steam begins to fill the room. The mournful sounds of Bach’s Cello Suite 1 Prelude permeate the air. She sits under the hot water and rubs her skin raw and red and listens to the crescendo and decrescendo of the cello.
